Moldova has decided to extend the term of temporary protection for IDPs from Ukraine

Moldova has decided to extend the period of temporary protection for internally displaced persons from Ukraine for another year, namely until March 1, 2025. This is reported on the official website of the Government of Moldova.

According to this decision, the identity document of the beneficiary of temporary protection will be automatically extended. The executive branch took this step to ensure stability and security for Ukrainians seeking asylum in Moldova.

Temporary protection is available to Ukrainians currently in Moldova, as well as to those who will arrive in the country before March 1, 2024, before the deadline for applying for protection.

The main goal of this project is to provide social assistance and financial support to beneficiaries of temporary protection in accordance with the established vulnerability criteria. Such persons will have the right to work in Moldova without the need to obtain an additional temporary residence permit for work.

Currently, there are over 116 thousand people in Moldova who have moved from Ukraine. Of these, almost 39 thousand people are registered for temporary protection, and more than 30 thousand have already received the relevant identity documents.
