  • Canada to provide over 800 SkyRanger R70 drones to Ukraine

    Опубликовано: 2024-02-26 17:00:57

Canada is preparing to provide Ukraine with more than 800 SkyRanger R70 multi-purpose unmanned aerial systems to help the country resist Russian aggression. The total cost of this package of drones exceeds 95 million Canadian dollars.

This was reported by the press service of the Government of Canada, emphasizing the importance of this step in ensuring Ukraine's security.

"These multifunctional drones are critical for surveillance, intelligence gathering, and can be used to transport and deliver munitions," the statement said.

The cost of the transferred drones is more than 95 million Canadian dollars, and the funds for this project were allocated from military aid in the amount of 500 million Canadian dollars. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced this assistance last year during his visit to Kyiv.

The SkyRanger R70 drones are equipped with automated and autonomous navigation systems that allow them to detect and identify targets. Their use will allow for long-range reconnaissance, especially in poor visibility conditions.

In addition, SkyRanger R70 drones can carry loads weighing up to 3.5 kilograms, including ammunition, making them additionally useful for military operations.

The SkyRanger R70 drones are manufactured in Canada by Teledyne and are expected to be delivered to Ukraine by early April.

In total, since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Canada has provided over $9.7 billion in support to Ukraine, of which $2.4 billion has been allocated for military needs.
