  • Netherlands joins coalition to supply drones to Ukraine: new opportunities in warfare

    Опубликовано: 2024-02-15 10:00:51

The Netherlands has announced that it is joining a military coalition aimed at providing Ukraine with advanced drone technology that will increase the country's defense capabilities in its confrontation with Russia. This was reported by Reuters.

It is noted that the Netherlands promises to help Ukraine not only with drones, but also with F-16 fighters, artillery, ammunition and air defense systems.

"We realize the importance of drones in this war. That is why we are joining the drone coalition initiated by Ukraine together with Latvia and other countries. We are ready to support Ukraine in the development and use of advanced technologies necessary for our partner," said Kasia Ollongren, Minister of Defense of the Netherlands.

She added that the Netherlands will allocate additional funds for this purpose, in addition to the already planned 2 billion euros for 2024.

It is worth noting that drones have become an important component of both Ukraine's and Russia's military strategies for reconnaissance and strikes on important targets.

"The novelty is that we are combining these efforts within one coalition. We're combining what we used to do separately to respond more effectively to Ukraine's needs," explained Ollongren.

Ukraine plans to produce thousands of long-range drones capable of conducting deep strikes against Russia in 2024. In addition, there are already dozens of companies working on the production of such drones, said Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Technologies of Ukraine.

According to Ollongren, working together in the coalition will allow for a faster response to changes in warfare tactics and respond to Ukraine's needs.

"We will provide Ukraine with high-tech experience from the commercial sector, but details of technical or financial support remain outside the public domain," she concluded.
