Ukraine launches blood donation information system

Ukraine will take a significant step towards improving its blood donation system, as the Cabinet of Ministers has approved the operation of an information and communication system called eKrov. According to the Ministry of Health and the government's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, the decision was made at a meeting on December 12.

The new procedure defines the tasks and functionalities of eCrowd, establishes general requirements for processing information and documents, regulates the process of user registration, their access to information and documents in the system, and administration mechanisms.

The eKrov system will include functional modules and registries based on the Diia.Engine platform. They will simplify the collection and analysis of complete information on donor actions, examination results and other parameters related to donation processes.

"Ensuring the safety and quality of donated blood and its components is a commitment to Europe. Thanks to the new system, we will have up-to-date and reliable information on blood needs, as well as the ability to track reserves at the national and regional levels," said Deputy Minister of Health Maria Karchevych.

In addition, the decision provides for the creation of a register of licenses for the procurement and testing of donated blood and its components. This register will be maintained by the State Service on Medicines and Drugs Control.
