    Опубликовано: 2023-11-20 11:00:24

The state of Iowa has recognized the Holodomor of 1932-33 as genocide of the Ukrainian people, becoming the 33rd US state to join this important act of recognition of the historical tragedy. This was reported by Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova.

Iowa's proclamation was issued on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Holodomor, and the state became the eighth in the consular district of the Consulate General of Ukraine in Chicago to recognize this tragic episode as genocide and declare November as the month of remembrance of the Holodomor-Genocide in Ukraine.

Ambassador Markarova expressed her gratitude to the Governor of Iowa, Kim Reynolds, for her solidarity with Ukraine in this matter.

Now the Ambassador calls on everyone to join the solemn ceremony of commemoration of the Holodomor victims, which will be held on November 25 at 16:30 at the Holodomor Memorial in Washington, DC. This will be another opportunity to pay tribute and recognize the victims of this tragic chapter in Ukrainian history.
