  • The agreement with Belarus on labor activity is terminated: Decision of the Verkhovna Rada

    Опубликовано: 2023-08-25 14:30:57

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has decided to terminate the Agreement on Labor Activity and Social Protection of Citizens between Ukraine and Belarus. This decision was announced by Yaroslav Zheleznyak, First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy.

This Agreement regulated the conditions of employment of Ukrainian citizens in Belarus. It required that every citizen who wished to work in Belarus must obtain a work permit issued by the competent authorities of the state. This permit granted the right to work only at a certain place of work and for a limited period, usually not more than one year.

According to the decision, the provisions of the Agreement remain in force for labor agreements (contracts) that were concluded at the time when the Agreement was in force. This means that Ukrainian nationals who already had contracts in Belarus at the time of termination of the Agreement will be able to continue working until the end of the term for which the contract was concluded.

The explanatory note to the relevant draft law emphasizes that the decision is related to the aggression of the Russian Federation and Belarus' involvement in the illegal use of force against Ukraine. It also points to Belarus' support for Russia, the aggressor country in the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

This decision of the Verkhovna Rada reflects Ukraine's position on international developments and emphasizes the importance of its own security and sovereignty.
