Preparations for Rosh Hashanah and a call to refrain from traveling to Uman: Security measures and recommendations

Preparations for Rosh Hashanah, which will take place in September, have already begun in the Cherkasy region. However, local authorities are urging Hasidic pilgrims to refrain from traveling to Uman given the current geopolitical situation and security threats. Despite this, a number of pilgrims are still planning to arrive in the holy city, and measures are already being taken to ensure their safety and comfort.

Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional Executive Administration (REA), emphasized the importance of understanding the current realities. He noted that due to military operations and the threat from Russia, security in the region is at a high risk. Given this, visiting Uman could be potentially dangerous for pilgrims.

Despite recommendations to refrain from traveling, some Hasidim are still planning to arrive in Uman to celebrate Rosh Hashanah. The local authorities, together with the security and defense sector, have already begun preventive measures to ensure their safety and dignity. One of the key aspects of this process is the coordination of security measures and ensuring proper conditions for the newcomers.

A special commission, which included Israel's Deputy Ambassador to Ukraine, Liron Finkelstein, met to discuss security issues and preparations for the celebration. The meeting was held on August 8 and has already emphasized the increased security measures that will be taken compared to previous years.

Preparations for the Rosh Hashanah celebration include not only security aspects but also other important areas. The organizers plan to provide medical care, ensure the functioning of catering establishments, engage public utilities to properly improve the territory and take measures against the spread of the epidemic.

Recently, the initiators of the preparations emphasized that the most important priority is safety and comfort for both locals and guests. The conditions for the celebration must be provided at a high level, avoiding any risks to participants and the environment.
