    Опубликовано: 2024-06-10 15:28:25

Do you notice an unquenchable craving for a certain product? The interval between meals is less than two hours? If there is no favorite treat in the house, you feel depressed? In such cases, it makes sense to talk about a new disease of the 21st century - food addiction.

    What is food addiction?
Food addiction is a condition in which a person cannot give up his favorite food even for a short time. Food becomes a sleeping pill and sedative for him. At the same time, the person realizes that he or she is abusing food, feels guilty and hides his or her addiction. The behavior of such people is much like that of drug addicts.

Many people are susceptible to this disease, but not everyone indulges their weakness. The causes of addiction to food can be different: hormonal disorders, mental disorders, stress, heredity or just bad habits. In each case, a thorough examination and consultation with specialists is necessary to identify the true cause and effective treatment.

How to fight addiction to food?
At first glance, the situation may seem hopeless. However, it is possible and necessary to fight such addiction on your own. It is important not to give up your favorite food completely to avoid additional stress. Limit the consumption of the treat, use it as a reward for endurance during the day. Start small, look for internal stimuli and substitutes in the form of positive emotions.

    Practical tips
Clear the kitchen of food stockpiles. Give them away or throw them away so there is no temptation. Don't panic if your favorite food runs out - you can always buy it at the store. The extra effort of buying it may be an excuse to give it up.

Avoid pointless shopping trips. Before shopping, make a detailed list and stick to it. Don't go into stores “just for a minute” and avoid the departments with your favorite treats.

Make arrangements with yourself. Replace meals with experiences. Don't eat while reading or watching TV. Engage in something that distracts you from the urge to snack. Spend more time with people - this will help avoid temptation.

Stick to your eating schedule. Get in the habit of eating at certain times 4-5 times a day, but a little at a time. Don't confuse the feeling of hunger with the desire to occupy time. Eat only when you are really hungry. If you often want to snack, it is better to be patient until real hunger.

Exercise. Physical activity helps to excite a normal appetite and discipline. Sport requires adherence to a regimen, which will help wean you off uncontrolled food consumption.

Do not eat alone. Eating in company is disciplining. Don't fight stress or insomnia with food - it will only make things worse.

    Ask for help
If you can not cope with the problem on your own, consult a doctor. Specialists will help to choose a suitable diet and, if necessary, consult with a psychologist. Food addiction is a problem that can be managed with the right approach. Don't let it ruin your life, seek help and don't give up.
