VR adopted a draft law on control over gambling business and advertising of gambling games

On April 24, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported a draft law aimed at strengthening control over the gambling business and limiting the advertising of gambling games. This is an important step in implementing effective measures to regulate the gaming industry in the country.

At the moment, People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak announced this in his channel in the Telegram messenger. According to his information, draft law No. 9256-1 and No. 10101 were supported by 272 deputies at the first reading.

The main provisions of the draft laws are the restriction of gambling advertising in Ukraine and the strengthening of fines for violations in this area. For example, fines for violations can increase from 300 to 600 minimum wages, and repeated violations can lead to the cancellation of a gambling license.

In addition, the draft law provides for the prohibition of sponsorship, improvement of gambling business control tools, as well as the introduction of a system of measures to prevent the operation of illegal gambling and gambling establishments.

In particular, it is proposed to improve control mechanisms, including Internet monitoring and control purchases. It is also envisaged to identify additional tools to limit access to gambling establishments and gambling for potentially vulnerable population groups.

It is noted that one of the components of the successful implementation of the legislation is the effective fight against the shadow sector. This will help avoid a situation where advertising restrictions and controls may encourage some players to engage in illegal schemes.

It is worth noting that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ordered the heads of departments to collect analytical data on the operation of online casinos and their impact on society. This shows the seriousness of the state's approach to the regulation of the gambling sphere and the protection of citizens from the negative consequences of gambling.
