Ukraine is preparing to receive significant aid from Japan

Ukraine is preparing to receive significant assistance from Japan in the form of more than 100 large generators with a total capacity of more than 130 MW. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

It is noted that during the visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Japan, headed by the Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko, a meeting was held with the leadership of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). During this meeting, agreements were reached regarding the supply of more than 100 high-power generators to Ukraine.

Minister Galushchenko thanked Japan and JICA for financial and technical assistance to the Ukrainian energy sector. He emphasized that Japan is known for its contribution to the development of energy and occupies a prominent place among donor countries.

The Minister also noted that an important task is the rapid increase of generation capacities and the replacement of damaged autotransformers to ensure the stability of the electricity supply, especially in connection with the recent attacks on the Ukrainian power system.

The signing of an agreement on grant assistance in the amount of up to 15.8 million Japanese yen for the Emergency Recovery Program (Phase 3) in February 2024 is another step in cooperation between Ukraine and Japan in the field of energy. We will remind that the agreements on grant assistance for the first two phases of this program were signed in the spring of 2023.
