Ukraine has started negotiations with Italy on security guarantees: Key step to strengthening defense

Ukraine has started negotiations with Italy on a bilateral agreement on security guarantees, marking an important moment in the G7's joint efforts. According to the initiative of the G7 countries, the negotiations are an important milestone for Ukraine, the press service of the Presidential Office emphasizes.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva led the Ukrainian delegation during the talks and expressed gratitude to Italy for its contribution to the defense of Ukraine and emphasized the importance of receiving security guarantees from Italy, which will lead the G7 next year.

During the consultations, the parties discussed the schedule of further meetings and approaches to the future agreement. This is an important step in determining the areas of cooperation and the formatting of the agreement.

As a reminder, on November 17, Ukraine started negotiations with Germany on security guarantees, which became possible thanks to the G7 declaration adopted at the NATO summit on July 12. These commitments include the provision of modern military equipment, increased interoperability with NATO, and other items to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.

According to Ihor Zhovkva, the signing of the security agreement with Italy will be a step towards Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO, and it will demonstrate the readiness of the united international community to support and defend our country.
