Unsuitable facilities to be removed from the list of shelters

Kyiv is taking measures to remove facilities that do not meet the requirements of technical condition or other criteria for inclusion in the list of shelters and electronic maps. Most often, this concerns the basements of residential buildings where communication systems are located. This was reported by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) Serhiy Popko.

According to the Kyiv City Military Administration's order, work is underway to improve the capital's protective structures fund. An important part of this process is the exclusion from the list of shelters and electronic maps of objects that cannot be used for technical reasons or for other objective reasons.

According to the head of KIAA, most often basements of residential buildings that are not suitable for protecting the population are excluded. Such underground premises contain important communication systems, such as water supply, heating, electrical panels, and others. Also, certain facilities whose technical condition poses a threat to people may be excluded.

In addition, it is reported that the possibility of using other underground facilities as shelters is currently being considered. This opens up prospects for finding alternative facilities that can be used to ensure the safety of the population in the event of emergencies.

Ensuring the proper condition and functionality of shelters is an important task for the city of Kyiv. Removing unadapted facilities from the list will help to increase efficiency and ensure proper conditions for protecting the public in case of emergencies.
