The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to allocate almost 11 billion hryvnias from a special fund of the state budget to strengthen the country's defense capabilities. The funds will be used to purchase new weapons, repair military equipment, and develop the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, announced the decision. According to her, the government is additionally allocating 10.8 billion hryvnias for the needs of the defense sector and the production of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The head of government noted that the necessary resources were accumulated in a special fund of the state budget. After that, the funds were promptly directed to meet the defense needs of the state in the conditions of the ongoing war.
Of the total amount of funding, 9 billion hryvnias are planned to be used directly for the purchase of new weapons, as well as for the repair and modernization of military equipment. This should strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian army and ensure faster updating of the technical equipment of the front.
The government will allocate almost 2 billion hryvnias to support the Ukrainian defense industry. This includes scaling up production, expanding the capacities of enterprises, and the rapid introduction of the latest technologies that arise directly during hostilities.
Yulia Svyrydenko also specified the sources of these funds. According to her, the funding was accumulated thanks to revenues from the personal income tax, as well as license fees received from the gambling business and lotteries.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Ukrainian military, together with domestic arms manufacturers, are currently carrying out a real technological revolution. She emphasized that the results of this work are recognized by both Ukraine's international partners and the enemy.
According to Svyrydenko, the government will continue to support the development of new military technologies and will do everything necessary to quickly scale up modern solutions that help Ukrainian defenders on the battlefield.
