The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the law "On Public Procurement", which provides for a large-scale update of the public procurement system in accordance with European standards and requirements necessary for the further integration of Ukraine into the European Union.

The press service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine reported on the adoption of the document. This is draft law No. 11520, which the parliament calls one of the key acts within the framework of the country's European integration process.

The report emphasizes that the adopted law is an important part of the negotiation process on Ukraine's future membership in the European Union. The document is designed to adapt Ukrainian legislation to the norms and rules of the EU in the field of public procurement.

The main goal of the law is to implement European standards in the procurement system, as well as harmonize Ukrainian legislation with European Union law. In addition, the document should contribute to the further approximation of national procedures to European requirements for transparency and competition.

The Verkhovna Rada notes that the new regulations should become an effective mechanism for saving budget funds, increasing transparency in the use of state resources, and strengthening the trust of international partners in Ukraine. It is also expected that the adoption of the document will strengthen the state's position during negotiations on accession to the EU.

The provisions of the law are aimed at creating a modern, competitive, and effective public procurement system. Lawmakers emphasize that the new model should meet the needs of the country both during martial law and during the period of future post-war recovery.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development was the main one in preparing and working on the draft law. It was this committee that was engaged in analyzing the provisions of the document and preparing it for consideration in the session hall of the parliament.

During the vote, 245 people's deputies supported the draft law. After the adoption of the document, people's deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak stated that this law also has important financial significance for Ukraine.

According to Zheleznyak, the document is a "World Bank law," and its adoption will unlock $3.5 billion in financing for Ukraine.
