  • Ukraine expands transport visa-free regime in Europe: Bosnia and Herzegovina to join the list

    Опубликовано: 2026-05-13 10:00:48

Ukraine has agreed to introduce a liberalized regime for cargo transportation with Bosnia and Herzegovina. The new rules will come into effect on January 1, 2027 and provide for the abolition of the permit system for bilateral and transit transportation between the two states.

The Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine reported on the agreements reached. The agency emphasized that the agreement became another stage in expanding Ukraine's international transport cooperation with European countries.

Important results were achieved during the first meeting of the Mixed Commission on International Road Transport, which took place in Sarajevo. It was there that representatives of the Ukrainian delegation agreed with partners on the conditions for the future liberalization of the cargo transportation market.

Before the official launch of the "transport visa-free regime", the parties also agreed on a temporary solution to support carriers. This is an increase in the quota of permits for cargo transportation, which will be valid until the end of 2026.

Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine - Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba noted that the new agreement is an important step in simplifying international logistics and developing Ukrainian exports. According to him, such cooperation also contributes to the further integration of Ukraine into the European transport space.

Kuleba emphasized that the expansion of the quota of permits will soon help Ukrainian business operate more stably and plan transportation more predictably. This is especially important for companies that depend on continuous logistics and international trade.

It is expected that the liberalization of transportation will significantly reduce administrative procedures for transport companies and reduce the burden on carriers. The absence of the need to obtain separate permits should speed up cargo transportation and make international logistics more efficient.

After the new agreements come into force, Bosnia and Herzegovina will become the 36th country with which Ukraine will have a liberalized regime for road freight transportation.
