In April 2026, Ukraine recorded a further acceleration of inflation processes. Consumer prices increased by 1.4% per month compared to March, and in annual terms by 8.6% compared to April 2025.
This is evidenced by data from the State Statistics Service of Ukraine. The annual inflation rate in April became the highest since the beginning of the year.
According to statistics, inflation dynamics gradually intensified during the first months of 2026. In March, annual inflation was 7.9%, in February - 7.6%, and in January - 7.4%. Thus, April became the month when price growth reached a new maximum.
The greatest contribution to the increase in the overall price level in April was made by individual categories of goods and services. First of all, fuel and lubricants rose significantly in price — by 7.9%. This became one of the key factors of the overall inflationary pressure on the economy.
A significant increase in prices was also recorded in the transport sector. The cost of travel by motor vehicle increased by 6.5%, which additionally affected the expenses of households and businesses.
Prices for basic food products increased no less noticeably. In particular, bread and bakery products rose by 5.2%, which traditionally has a significant impact on overall consumer inflation due to their weight in the consumer basket.
The statistics separately highlight core inflation, which in April amounted to 0.8% in monthly terms and 7.6% in annual terms. This indicator reflects the dynamics of prices without taking into account the most volatile components, such as energy and seasonal goods.
The State Statistics Service of Ukraine notes that the general trend indicates a gradual increase in inflationary pressure in the economy, primarily due to the increase in the cost of energy and transport services.
