The state-owned gas station network Ukrnafta became the largest fuel retailer in Ukraine in April, ahead of its main competitors in the market. According to the results of the month, the company sold about 120 million liters of fuel, which allowed it to take first place among Ukrainian fuel networks.
This is evidenced by the results of a study by the A-95 Consulting Group, published by the specialized publication enkorr. According to analysts, the OKKO network took second place in the market, and WOG took third.
Analysts emphasize that the rapid growth in Ukrnafta's sales began in March. Then, fuel sales increased by 48% compared to February and reached 92 thousand tons. This allowed the state-owned company to overtake WOG and consolidate its position in second place after OKKO.
In April, the growth rate was more moderate - sales increased by another 4%, or 2.5 thousand tons. However, against the background of a decrease in fuel sales in the OKKO network, this was enough for Ukrnafta to lead the rating of the largest retailers of petroleum products in the country for the first time. The state-owned operator's total sales figure approached 95 thousand tons.
The largest contribution to the growth was made by diesel fuel sales. Compared to February, they increased by 65% and reached 58 thousand tons. Gasoline sales also showed significant growth - by 27%, to 29.5 thousand tons. Sales of liquefied gas increased by 14% and amounted to 4.7 thousand tons.
Director of A-95 Consulting Group Serhii Kuiun explained that the sharp increase in sales volumes was primarily a result of the minimum prices for fuel in the Ukrnafta network. According to him, such a pricing policy was associated with the government's order to contain the cost of fuel in the context of the global energy crisis.
In addition, the program to modernize and expand the gas station network, which the company has been implementing in recent years, had a positive effect. Updating the infrastructure and increasing the number of stations allowed the state-owned operator to strengthen its position in the market.
Another factor in the growth was the addition of 21 U.GO gas stations located in the Poltava and Kharkiv regions. These gas stations are owned by Ukrgazvydobuvannya and strengthened the presence of Ukrnafta in the eastern regions of the country.
