  • Nanobubbles as a New Tool in the Fight Against Cancer

    Опубликовано: 2026-04-28 15:28:34

Chinese researchers have developed an innovative nanobubble-based contrast solution that can significantly improve ultrasound imaging of body tissue. This solution opens up new possibilities for the diagnosis and treatment of cancerous tumors, allowing doctors to obtain clearer images of affected areas.

Modern ultrasound techniques, including Doppler ultrasound, use the Doppler effect to assess blood flow in blood vessels. When sound waves reflect off a moving object, a frequency shift is observed, allowing flow velocity to be determined. However, the quality of such studies depends on contrast, which makes the image more informative and helps identify pathological areas.

The use of nanobubbles in contrast solutions significantly improves the accuracy of imaging. Due to their tiny size, the bubbles can penetrate the vessel walls and accumulate in the tumor. This process, called passive drift, allows ultrasound to record an enhanced acoustic signal precisely in the areas where pathological changes are present.

To create nanobubbles, scientists used the chemical compounds sorbitan monostearate and polyoxyethylene stearate. Using differential centrifugation, they obtained a suspension of nanosized bubbles that are safe for the body and biocompatible. This technology ensures solution stability and high efficiency for research.

In addition to improving diagnostics, nanobubbles can be used as drug carriers. They can deliver medications directly to the tumor, bypassing healthy tissue and minimizing side effects. This approach opens the prospect of combining precise imaging with targeted therapy, which is especially important for cancer patients.

Experts believe that the use of nanobubbles in clinical practice could be a significant advance in cancer treatment. They not only improve diagnostic accuracy but also expand drug delivery capabilities, making treatment more effective and safe. In the future, such technologies could change the approach to treating cancer diseases and improve patients' chances of successful recovery.
