  • US announces complete maritime blockade of Iran: trade halted in a matter of hours

    Опубликовано: 2026-04-16 10:00:30

The United States has announced a complete halt to Iran's maritime trade as a result of the military blockade. According to the US military, the operation was implemented in the shortest possible time and has already yielded concrete results.

The statement was initiated by the head of the US Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper. He stressed that the blockade of Iranian ports was not only started, but also fully implemented, which effectively paralyzed the country's maritime trade flows.

The information about this was published by the authoritative international publication Financial Times, referring to official comments from the US side. According to experts, such actions could have significant consequences for both the Iranian economy and the global energy and trade markets.

According to Cooper, less than 36 hours after the start of the operation, American forces were able to completely stop any economic sea traffic going to or from Iran's ports. Thus, the country effectively lost the ability to conduct maritime trade.

Before that, the US Central Command had already reported on the first results of the blockade. In particular, during the first 24 hours, not a single ship that left Iranian ports was able to pass through the established restrictions.

In addition, at least six commercial vessels were forced to change course and return after receiving a corresponding order from the US military. This indicates tight control over sea routes and the effectiveness of the measures introduced.
