New system of contracts for the military: government prepares salary increases

The Ukrainian government continues to work on reforming the system of remuneration of military personnel. In particular, it is planned to increase salaries within the framework of new contracts, the presentation of which is expected in the near future.

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this during the hour of questions to the government in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. According to her, the relevant work is ongoing, and the Cabinet of Ministers does not plan to abandon this initiative.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine plays a key role in preparing the changes, which has already conducted an audit of the current salary system in the military. Based on the results obtained, the department is developing a new approach to contract service.

As Svyrydenko noted, the government, together with the Minister of Defense, has already discussed the main parameters of future contracts. It is expected that they will be presented to the public in about a few weeks, after the completion of the agreements.

One of the main innovations will be the introduction of a differentiated remuneration system. The level of financial support for military personnel will depend on the position, functional duties and level of responsibility, which should make the system more fair and flexible.

The government expects that such changes will not only increase the level of income of the military, but also make contract service more attractive. This, in turn, may positively affect the staffing of the Armed Forces.

In general, the initiative is part of a broader reform of the security and defense sector aimed at increasing the efficiency, motivation and social protection of military personnel in the face of long-term challenges for the country.
