The government has expanded the war risk insurance program for businesses: compensation has increased threefold

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to significantly expand the war risk insurance program for businesses. Now the maximum amount of compensation for damaged or destroyed property and insurance premiums has been significantly increased, and the conditions for accessing payments have become simpler.

This was reported by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine. Minister Oleksiy Sobolev noted that the maximum amounts of compensation have increased threefold: up to UAH 30 million for property and up to UAH 3 million for insurance premiums.

Previously, compensation for property could not exceed UAH 10 million, and for insurance premiums - UAH 1 million. The new rules allow enterprises to clarify submitted applications by May 1, 2026, increase the declared amounts of losses or add other property to them, which increases the flexibility of the program and contributes to the restoration of business.

An important change was the simplification of the conditions for submitting applications for insurance premium compensation. Now they can be submitted as early as the 31st day after the conclusion of the contract, which gives companies more time to adapt and attract investment. If the contract provides for payment of the premium in installments, the compensation will also be paid in proportion to the payments made.

The norm that reduced the amount of compensation by the amount of previously received grants or other state aid has also been canceled. At the same time, compensation will be provided only under property insurance contracts against war risks, and only for property that was included in the program on the date of damage or destruction.

The program started on January 1, 2026. Currently, 52 applications have been submitted for compensation for damaged or destroyed property, of which 20 have already been confirmed. Businesses have submitted 21 applications for insurance premium compensation. The new changes are designed to stimulate the participation of enterprises and ensure effective protection of businesses in conditions of war risks.
