Electricity prices for businesses have reached a new low

A significant decrease in the cost of electricity for businesses has been recorded in Ukraine. The weighted average price on the day-ahead market (DAM) has reached its lowest level since the beginning of 2026 — UAH 4,816 per MWh.

This is evidenced by the data of the Market Operator based on the results of trading on March 3, 2026. The relevant information was published by the specialized publication ExPro.

Compared to the previous trading day, the weighted average price on the DAM in the unified energy system of Ukraine decreased by 35%. The current indicator has become the lowest since December 26, which indicates a sharp adjustment of the price situation in the wholesale market segment.

Experts note that the decrease in cost is seasonal in nature, but additional factors also influenced it. In particular, we are talking about the unsold volumes of electricity of the Energoatom company for the first decade of the month - almost 1 GW of capacity remained unsold. Excess supply naturally puts pressure on the price.

At the same time, favorable weather conditions, namely sunny weather, stimulated the growth of generation from renewable sources, primarily solar power plants. The increase in the volume of electricity production from RES also increased the surplus during the daytime hours.

As noted by Serhiy Koval, senior analyst of the electricity market at ExPro, during the daytime period, prices fell to the lowest values ​​​​in the last four months. This indicates the complex impact of both market and weather factors on the formation of the current cost of the resource for business consumers.
