The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted a law on the ratification of an agreement between the governments of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland on the activities of the Polish state bank Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) in the territory of Ukraine. This gives the bank an official legal status to operate in Ukraine.
According to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the law creates the basis for providing financial support to the Government of Ukraine, state and private institutions and organizations in the form of loans and other financial instruments.
Earlier, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine reported that during the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine in July 2025, BGK signed letters of intent. They provide for the possibility of providing loans to Polish entrepreneurs for the implementation of investment projects related to the reconstruction of Ukraine after the destruction.
The agreement opens up new opportunities for attracting capital and promotes the development of economic cooperation between Ukrainian and Polish companies. BGK's financial resources can be directed to infrastructure, energy and industrial projects that support the country's reconstruction.
Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego is the only bank in Poland that is fully controlled by the state. Its activities in partner countries are usually focused on supporting economic and strategic initiatives, in particular in the field of investment and recovery from crisis situations.
The ratification of the agreement underlines Ukraine’s desire to deepen financial integration with EU countries and ensure stable access to external sources of financing for the implementation of important national projects.
