France provides Ukraine with a new support package

France has announced the provision of grant financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 71 million euros. A significant part of these funds will be directed to the restoration and modernization of the country's energy sector, the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reports.

The agreements were reached during a meeting between the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and the Minister of Economy and Energy of France Roland Lescure. During the negotiations, the parties signed a strategic memorandum on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy, which lays the foundation for a long-term partnership between the countries.

According to Shmyhal, the funds will be used for the framework restoration of critical infrastructure and modernization of energy facilities. "This lays a solid foundation for deepening the strategic partnership and forms a framework for the restoration and modernization of Ukraine's energy sector. I am sincerely grateful to the French partners for their support," the minister emphasized.

As part of the assistance, France has already transferred to Ukraine more than 50 shipments of humanitarian energy support, including more than 140 powerful generators. This has significantly strengthened the backup sources of electricity supply in regions affected by hostilities and power grid failures.

An additional €5.7 million will be allocated to the Energy Support Fund, and another 150 generators will be delivered to Ukraine by February 2026. This will help ensure stable electricity supply for communities and critical infrastructure in conditions of increased load on the grid.

The signed strategic memorandum on nuclear energy provides for joint projects in the field of safe use of nuclear energy, reactor modernization and training of specialists. This step by France is an important signal of international support and trust in Ukraine's energy security on a long-term basis.

Thus, France's new aid package combines financial support, logistical support, and strategic cooperation in high-tech energy, allowing Ukraine to systematically restore critical infrastructure and strengthen energy independence.
