US significantly increased diesel and LPG supplies to Europe in 2025

In 2025, the United States significantly increased its exports of diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), with diesel supplies to Europe more than doubling. This was the result of high demand for energy and limited supply on the global market, Naftorynok reports.

According to the data, seaborne exports of light petroleum products in January 2026 reached 6.3 million barrels per day (bpd), which is 10% higher than in January 2025. The average export of petroleum products during the month was 7 million bpd, which is 8% more than in the same period of the previous year, the Weekly Petroleum Status Report notes.

Diesel provided the largest increase - by more than 210 thousand bpd (+19%) compared to January 2025. The growth was particularly noticeable in the European direction: diesel exports to Europe increased from 167 thousand b/d to 396 thousand b/d, while supplies to South America decreased.

In addition, exports of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), including propane and butane from the Gulf Coast, increased by 210 thousand b/d (+7%). This is due to high gas reserves in the US this winter and the need to meet increased demand on the European market.

Croatian Economy Minister Ante Šušnjar stressed that the purchase of Russian oil finances the war and attacks on Ukraine. He noted that Croatia will not allow fuel supplies to Central Europe to be jeopardized and is ready to resolve the problems within the framework of EU legislation.

Overall, the dynamics of US supply demonstrate a reorientation of energy flows and a strengthening of the role of American petroleum products as a key source of diesel and LPG for Europe during a period of global instability in energy markets.
