In January 2026, revenues from the tourist tax to local budgets of Ukraine reached UAH 28.4 million. This is 14.3% more compared to the same period last year, which indicates a gradual recovery and intensification of domestic and inbound tourism.
The State Tax Service of Ukraine reported on the growth in indicators. The agency noted that positive dynamics were recorded already at the beginning of the year, despite the seasonal factor and difficult security conditions.
The largest amounts of tourist tax have traditionally been received by the budgets of regions with developed tourist infrastructure. The leader was Lviv region — UAH 5.9 million. Ivano-Frankivsk region also demonstrated a high figure, which received UAH 5.6 million.
A similar amount — UAH 5.6 million — was also attracted by Kyiv. The capital remains one of the key centers of business and cultural tourism. The list of regions with the highest revenues also included the Transcarpathian region, where the volume of the tourist tax amounted to UAH 3 million.
The tax service reminded that the tourist tax is paid during temporary residence in hotels, hostels, estates and other accommodation facilities. Payers are citizens of Ukraine, foreigners, as well as stateless persons.
Thus, the growth in revenues by 14.3% in January 2026 demonstrates stable demand for tourist services in certain regions of the country. Local budgets receive additional financial resources that can be directed to the development of infrastructure and support of the tourism industry.
