  • Sweden allocates over $110 million to Ukraine for energy support

    Опубликовано: 2026-02-06 15:00:50

The Swedish government has decided to provide Ukraine with emergency financial support for the energy sector in 2026 in the amount of 1 billion Swedish kronor, which exceeds 110 million US dollars. This was reported by the SVT portal.

The funding will be aimed at supporting the operation of power plants, heating systems and providing the necessary spare parts for the stable functioning of Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

Swedish Minister for Development and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dawes emphasized that the funds will be used immediately to minimize the risks of interruptions in the supply of electricity and heat to the population.

The decision to provide assistance was made against the backdrop of forecasts of a sharp cold snap, which may create an additional burden on Ukraine's energy system and increase the need for reserve capacity.

Swedish support is part of international efforts to ensure the stability of energy supply in Ukraine and prevent crisis situations in the critically important sector during the winter season.

It is expected that the funds received will accelerate the restoration of damaged energy facilities, as well as increase the reliability of heating and electricity supply systems for Ukrainian citizens in the coming months.
