Algeria opens market for Ukrainian livestock: three new export directions agreed

Ukraine has taken another step in expanding the geography of animal products exports, opening three new markets in Algeria at once. This became possible after the countries agreed on the forms of veterinary and sanitary-veterinary documents, which are a mandatory condition for the supply of live livestock. This was reported by the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Rights Protection.

According to official information, this concerns the opening of markets for the export of various categories of livestock. The agreed documents define veterinary requirements and confirm the state of safety and health of animals to be supplied from Ukraine to Algeria.

The first of the agreed documents was the form of a veterinary health certificate for the export of meat livestock. This allows Ukrainian producers and exporters to supply livestock intended for slaughter and further processing to Algeria, in compliance with all veterinary standards of the importing country.

The second direction was the form of a sanitary and veterinary certificate for the export of breeding livestock. The opening of this market creates opportunities for the supply of breeding animals to Algeria, which can be used for the reproduction and development of local livestock farming.

The third agreed document concerns the export of cattle for fattening. The corresponding form of a veterinary certificate allows Ukrainian companies to export animals intended for further breeding and weight gain in Algeria.

The State Food and Consumer Service emphasizes that the opening of Algerian markets is part of the systematic work to expand access of Ukrainian agricultural products to foreign markets. Since the beginning of this year, Ukraine has already opened five new markets for the export of animal products.

It is expected that the new opportunities will contribute to the diversification of exports, strengthening the positions of Ukrainian producers in the markets of North Africa and increasing foreign exchange earnings to the country.
