Sweden continues to strengthen its support for the Ukrainian energy sector by providing a new financial tranche. The Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) has transferred €63.82 million to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine, which is another step in strengthening the country's energy sustainability.
The press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported on the receipt of funds. The department emphasized that Sweden's contribution is an important component of international assistance, which allows for a prompt response to the challenges caused by the destruction of energy infrastructure.
Taking into account the new tranche, the total amount of financial support provided by SIDA to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine has reached €203.08 million. A significant part of these funds is earmarked and is used to implement critical projects in the field of energy security.
A special mention should be made of the contribution of EUR 44.68 million to a special account for ensuring nuclear safety. These funds play a key role in maintaining the stable and safe operation of nuclear power facilities in conditions of military risks.
Thanks to financial assistance from Sweden, it was possible to purchase equipment for the implementation of a project to develop distributed generation in one of the most energy-deficient regions of Ukraine. This allows to increase the reliability of electricity supply and reduce dependence on centralized sources of generation.
In addition, SIDA funds were used to purchase important equipment for NPP Ukrenergo, as well as for distribution system operators in Kherson, Zaporizhia and Chernihiv regions. The supply of this equipment is aimed at restoring damaged networks and ensuring stable operation of the power system in front-line and affected regions.
The Ministry of Energy emphasizes that cooperation with Sweden remains strategically important for Ukraine, and the financial support provided directly affects the ability of the energy system to operate under constant threats and loads.
