From January 1, 2026, a new state health prevention program will be launched in Ukraine, focused on people over the age of 40. Every citizen of this age group will be able to undergo a comprehensive medical screening, and the state will provide 2,000 UAH for a special non-cash card for this. The press service of the Ministry of Health reported on the launch of the program in response to a request from the UNIAN agency.
The government has allocated 10 billion UAH for the implementation of the initiative. All participants who are 40 years old or older will automatically receive a notification in the Diya application - the message will arrive 30 days after their birthday and will contain an invitation to undergo a comprehensive examination. After confirming participation, 2000 UAH will be automatically credited to the "Diya.Kartka", which can be used exclusively to pay for screening in institutions working under a contract with the National Health Insurance Fund. This can be done in both state or municipal and private clinics - the main thing is that they are on the list of available institutions.
The examination procedure will last from 60 to 90 minutes and will be completed in one session. The cost of the service will be paid directly through "Diya.Kartka" at the time of its provision. For those citizens who do not use the "Diya" application, an alternative option is provided: you need to issue a plastic bank card, submit an application to the Central Healthcare Center, and in about a week receive confirmation of the accrual of funds and the opportunity to undergo screening on the same terms.
The medical check-up package is formed taking into account the principles of evidence-based medicine. It will include a physical examination (measurement of blood pressure, pulse rate, weight, height, waist circumference and body mass index), a questionnaire about lifestyle and existing symptoms, a number of laboratory tests - lipid profile, glycated hemoglobin, and if necessary - electrolytes, creatinine, GFR and other indicators. Participants will also undergo a brief assessment of their mental health and receive a doctor's consultation with an analysis of the risks of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes and personal recommendations.
The Ministry of Health emphasizes that after 40 years, the frequency of chronic diseases, especially cardiovascular pathologies and diabetes, increases sharply. Therefore, the program should help identify problems at the early stages, when treatment is most effective. Special attention is paid to those who rarely consult doctors and may not even suspect the presence of risks.
If abnormalities are detected during screening, the patient will immediately be referred to a specialized specialist. The system will also track the person's further route within the treatment. If necessary, doctors will prescribe medications that can be obtained free of charge or with a partial co-payment by electronic prescription. The program should become the first model of large-scale national preventive examination for the adult population in Ukraine.
