Netherlands allocates additional €250 million in military aid to Ukraine through PURL

The Netherlands has announced a new contribution of €250 million to support Ukraine in the security and defense sector. The assistance will be provided through the Priority Needs List (PURL) of Ukraine and will include the supply of weapons from US arsenals necessary for the effective defense of the country, in particular air defense systems and ammunition for F-16 aircraft, the Dutch Ministry of Defense announced.

Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans noted that the PURL packages contain resources that Ukraine urgently needs and cannot be provided through other channels. These include air defense systems and missiles, ammunition for F-16s and unmanned aerial vehicles, which are critical to countering Russian aggression.

"Ukraine urgently needs more military support to withstand airstrikes and survive the difficult winter season. With 250 million euros of assistance through PURL, the Netherlands is making a significant contribution to the country's security," Brekelmans stressed.

He also stressed that peace talks should not distract allies from their full and comprehensive support for Ukraine. According to the minister, it is important to maintain high pressure on Russia, both through diplomatic and economic means, as well as through military assistance, which strengthens Ukraine's position in the negotiations.

The new contribution demonstrates the Netherlands' continued support and willingness to remain by Ukraine's side. The Minister of Defense added that it is crucial that all European allies continue to work together to ensure the security of the region and support Ukraine in its fight for independence.

Earlier this year, the Netherlands became the first NATO partner to provide Ukraine with a full package of support through PURL. Since then, other allies have joined the initiative, strengthening coordination of the supply of critical weapons and equipment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
