The global automotive market has identified its leaders in terms of sales in January-September 2025. Toyota Group again took first place, increasing sales by 4.1%, while Geely Group showed the greatest growth, breaking into the top ten with a record growth of 32.8%, according to the Focus2move rating.
The rating is based on a global database of car registrations in 159 countries, covering sales of all brands that are part of one group. This allows you to assess the overall picture of the global market and identify leaders in each region.
Among the leading manufacturers, Toyota Group holds the first place with a market share of 12.4% and growth of +4.1%. The company showed the best results in Asia (+5.7%) and America (+4.2%), confirming its stable leadership in key markets.
Volkswagen Group is in second place with a market share of 9.7% and a slight increase of +0.6%. The company’s sales increased in Europe (+4%), but fell in Asia (-2.9%). Hyundai-Kia is in third place with a share of 8.1% and an increase of +3%, mainly due to strong sales in America (+8.8%), although there were losses in Europe (-2%).
The Renault-Nissan Alliance remained in fourth place, despite a decrease in sales of 2.2%, with the largest losses in Asia (-6.3%) and Europe (-0.4%). Stellantis closes the top five with a minimal increase of +0.5%, but the company shows a significant increase in sales in Asia (+27.4%), which compensates for the decrease in Europe (-6.4%).
Among the other companies: General Motors (6th place) grows by +4.2% mainly due to America (+6%); Ford Group (7th place) shows a growth of +3.8%, with strong sales in the Americas (+7.2%), which compensate for the decline in Asia (-9.4%). Geely Group (8th place) shows the highest dynamics in the ranking with a phenomenal +32.8%, almost entirely due to the Asian market (+48.6%). Honda Motor (9th place) lost one position, reducing sales by -4.4% due to the decline in Asia and Europe.
Thus, 2025 confirmed the stable leadership of traditional giants of the automotive industry, such as Toyota and Volkswagen, while new players, such as Geely, show phenomenal growth rates, changing the balance of power in the global market.
