  • Mykolaiv will receive one of the highest-quality water purification systems in Ukraine

    Опубликовано: 2025-11-10 10:00:48

A large-scale construction of new filtration and treatment facilities is underway in Mykolaiv, which will be the final stage of modernization of the city's water supply system. All work is planned to be completed by the end of 2025. This was announced by the Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba in an interview with the Ukrinform agency.

According to the minister, after the commissioning of the new water supply system, the city is already receiving clean drinking water. Currently, more than 500 thousand residents use it, and, as Kuleba notes, the feedback from Mykolaiv residents indicates a significant improvement in quality. “Mykolaiv has received clean drinking water, which residents are already using. We know that people are satisfied, because these are 500 thousand Ukrainians who have received a completely different quality of water. And this is not the end of the project yet,” the government official emphasized.

The next stage will be the completion of the construction of filtration facilities, which will provide an even higher level of purification. After their launch, as Kuleba noted, the water quality in Mykolaiv will meet the most modern standards and will become one of the best in Ukraine. This will allow the city to completely solve the water supply problem, which worsened after the start of a full-scale war.

The minister also emphasized that the implementation of this strategic project took place much faster than expected. Initially, it was planned to complete the construction of a new water pipeline in a year, but the work was completed in just eight months. Such efficiency was made possible thanks to the coordinated work of the government, contractors and local authorities.

The financial indicators of the project also exceeded expectations. Its initial estimated cost was 8.5 billion UAH, but thanks to the optimization of processes, it was possible to save about two billion. The saved funds, according to Kuleba, will be used to build new water pipelines in the southern regions of Ukraine, which also need infrastructure modernization.

The construction of a new water purification system for Mykolaiv has become a symbol of the region's recovery and an example of the effective use of state resources. After all work is completed in 2025, the city will be able to fully provide its residents with high-quality, safe, and stable drinking water, which will be an important step in restoring the vital infrastructure of Southern Ukraine.
