By the end of 2025, Ukraine will open two defense industry export offices in Berlin and Copenhagen, which will become platforms for the sale and joint production of Ukrainian weapons. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during a briefing, emphasizing that the initiative is aimed at strengthening cooperation with European partners and increasing its own defense capabilities.
According to the announced mechanism, the partners will finance the production of Ukrainian weapons, after which they will receive half of the manufactured products, and the other half will be transferred to Ukraine for the needs of the front. Zelenskyy emphasized that such a format will allow to provide stable sources of financing for the development of strategic projects, in particular the production of systems that are currently in short supply.
“We are opening two export capitals — Berlin and Copenhagen. This will be this year. We are talking about co-production and sale of weapons that we can afford to sell abroad in order to direct funds to the production of scarce types of weapons,” the president explained. As an example, he cited the Bogdan self-propelled artillery mount, the production of which already exceeds 40 units per month.
In addition to developing export cooperation, Ukraine is actively expanding its own production of missile systems and drones. According to Zelensky, the new Flamingo and Ruta missiles, as well as improved versions of the Neptune complex, including a long-range modification, are already in service. It is expected that mass production of these systems will begin by the end of the year.
The President emphasized that Ukrainian missiles and drones demonstrate high efficiency in combat conditions, delivering pinpoint strikes on Russian military facilities and reducing the enemy's logistics and recovery capabilities. He separately emphasized the importance of systematic communication regarding the types and capabilities of new developments, since Ukraine simultaneously produces missiles, missile-carrying drones, and interceptor drones.
“We must clearly explain what are missiles and what are drones with missile weapons. These are systems such as "Palyanytsia", "Peklo", "Ruta", "Flamingo", "- Zelensky noted.
At the same time, the head of state admitted that Russian attacks on defense plants temporarily affect the pace of production, but are not able to stop the development of the industry. The Ukrainian defense industry, according to him, has already switched to large-scale production of key weapons systems and intends to consolidate its position in the international market thanks to European export centers.
