The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine has refuted a wave of false messages that are actively spreading on social networks and Telegram channels. These are fakes about the alleged introduction of emergency power outages throughout the country. The department emphasized that such information is not true and has signs of hostile information attacks.
As noted in the press service of the Ministry of Energy, most of these messages are accompanied by fake outage schedules for various cities. Fraudsters often use the official logo of the ministry or other visual design elements to give plausibility to fake data. This, according to representatives of the department, is a typical method of disinformation campaigns.
The Ministry of Energy drew attention to the fact that some of such messages contain links to dubious Telegram channels with the promise of providing "up-to-date schedules" or "exclusive information" about outages. The Ministry warns: such appeals are a signal of fraud. Such resources are created to collect subscribers or may be part of Russian information and psychological operations aimed at spreading panic among Ukrainians.
The Energy Department emphasized that the real schedules of possible power supply restrictions, if any, are published only on the official pages of the regional energy companies. Each energy company informs consumers through its own resources - websites, verified Telegram channels or pages on social networks. Any other sources should be considered with caution.
"We urge citizens not to panic and trust only verified sources of information. Current data is always posted on the official resources of the Ministry of Energy, NPP Ukrenergo and the regional energy companies of your region," the ministry emphasized. It also urged Internet users not to spread unverified messages so as not to contribute to disinformation.
In turn, NPC Ukrenergo reported that the state of Ukraine's power system currently remains stable and fully controlled. There are no prerequisites for emergency power outages at the moment. Energy experts continue to monitor the situation and assure that in the event of any changes, Ukrainians will be informed in a timely manner through official channels.
