Demand for German is Growing: An Overview of the Tutoring Market in Ukraine

The tutoring market in Ukraine continues to grow, maintaining a high level of demand for foreign language and science tuition. The most popular areas remain English and mathematics, but the greatest increase in interest is observed in German, which is associated with the forced migration of Ukrainians to Germany and the growing need for language skills for employment and study.

According to OLX, English remains the leader in terms of the number of ads and reviews. In 2025, the platform published more than 11.5 thousand ads and collected more than 167 thousand reviews. The average cost of an hour of English lessons is 300 UAH.

Mathematics traditionally ranks second. The demand for tutors in this subject is due to the need to prepare for the National Multi-Subject Test (NMT) and enter technical specialties. The platform has almost 5 thousand ads and over 64 thousand reviews. The average price of an hour of training is 300 UAH.

The third place in terms of the number of ads and reviews is held by the Ukrainian language: over 1.4 thousand ads and 12 thousand reviews, the average cost of an hour is 250 UAH. However, since 2022, Ukrainian has gradually lost ground to the German language in terms of the number of user reviews.

The greatest growth is observed in the German language. In 2025, there are over 1.1 thousand ads and about 45 thousand reviews. The average cost of classes is 350 UAH, which is slightly higher than in other categories. Interest in the German language has increased significantly after the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia, when the number of reviews increased fourfold.

Biology, Polish, chemistry and physics stand out among other popular subjects. The number of ads and reviews for biology and Polish has doubled since 2023. The average price of an hour of tuition is 275 UAH for biology and 300 UAH for Polish. Chemistry and physics lessons cost 300 UAH per hour.

Thus, the tutoring services market is showing steady growth, especially in the direction of foreign languages, which meets the new needs of Ukrainians in the context of migration, study and employment abroad.
