The city of Khmelnytskyi has launched one of the most significant projects in Ukrainian engineering – updating the trolleybus fleet in cooperation with the Etalon plant from Chernihiv. According to the plans, the city plans to purchase 44 modern trolleybuses, which will be an important step in improving urban transport.
According to Dmytro Kysylevsky, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development, the production of each trolleybus involves more than 50 enterprises from different regions of Ukraine. This indicates the large-scale integration of Ukrainian enterprises into national projects.
The updated trolleybuses, in particular the Etalon T12240 model, meet the highest standards of environmental efficiency and passenger comfort. They are equipped with GPS trackers, video surveillance systems and have an autonomous range of up to 20 km, which ensures reliability and convenience in urban conditions.
The first five trolleybuses have already been delivered to Khmelnytskyi, which indicates the activity in the implementation of the project. In addition, according to the deputy, 40% of the costs of Ukrainian equipment are returned to budgets at various levels through taxation, which enhances the socio-economic benefits of local investments.
In April 2023, the Khmelnytskyi city authorities signed an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for 10 million euros to modernize public transport. The total cost of the project is 16 million euros, which includes a loan from the EBRD for 10 million euros, 4 million euros in the form of a grant from the EU and 1.5 million euros from the city budget.
The Etalon Corporation, which unites 12 enterprises, including the Chernihiv Automobile Plant, is actively developing the production of various types of vehicles and provides innovative solutions in the field of mechanical engineering and logistics.
