Ukraine Develops Production of Canadian Roshel Armored Vehicles

Ukrainian defense industry is being strengthened by a new partnership with Canadian company Roshel, which was announced by the Ukrainian Defense Industry State Joint Stock Company. The agreement provides for joint production of Roshel armored personnel carriers in Ukraine.

Ukrainian Minister of Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin confirmed this initiative, noting that Ukroboronprom will manufacture new armored personnel carriers using Western technologies. The Ukrainian enterprise will be provided with the necessary technical documentation and components for the production of vehicles.

One of the advantages of such cooperation is the possibility of accelerated delivery of armored vehicles to Ukrainian military units. In addition, this step will contribute to the integration of the Ukrainian defense industry into the international defense-industrial base.

According to Oleg Hulyak, General Director of Ukroboronprom, the company also actively continues to develop its own tanks and armored combat vehicles, which is part of the strategy to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.

One of the symbols of cooperation was the Roshel Senator armored personnel carrier, created on the basis of the Ford F-550 with CEN B7 armor, which provides protection against small arms and explosions and can carry up to 10 people. According to data from 2022, Canada has transferred more than 1,400 such vehicles to Ukraine, which are successfully used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and border guards.

In September 2024, the Ministry of Defense codified and admitted the Canadian-made Roshel Senator MRAP armored vehicle for operation in the Armed Forces, which confirms the importance of this cooperation for strengthening the country's defense readiness.

This partnership opens up new opportunities for the development of the Ukrainian defense industry and strengthens strategic ties with countries that adhere to high standards in military production.
