NEURC has preserved the price in the electricity market, but left room for maneuver

The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NEURC) has decided to leave the maximum prices in the electricity market unchanged since December. At the same time, the regulator has provided for the possibility of prompt adjustment in the event of a change in the market situation. This decision was made at a meeting on November 25.

According to the NEURC statement, the adopted policy allows maintaining stability in the electricity market, avoiding speculation and ensuring predictability for energy sector participants. However, price caps may be revised in December if the market situation undergoes significant changes.

NEURC Chairman Yuriy Vlasenko emphasized that the commission leaves a "window of opportunity" to respond to unforeseen circumstances. "In order to objectively resolve issues, if necessary, we will open the appropriate procedure in December to ensure the ability to respond promptly to market changes," he noted during the meeting.

Price caps play an important role in regulating the energy market. Keeping them unchanged allows us to avoid sharp price fluctuations, which could negatively affect consumers and energy companies. At the same time, the flexible response mechanism demonstrates the commission's readiness to adapt to possible challenges.

Ukraine's energy sector is in difficult conditions caused by both external and internal factors, in particular war and economic instability. In such conditions, the stability of the rules of the game in the market is an important element for ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply.

The decision of the National Commission for the Regulation of Energy and Power Generation of Ukraine also signals the desire for a balance between strict regulation and market freedom. By leaving room for possible adjustments, the regulator demonstrates its readiness for dynamic management of the sector, taking into account the interests of consumers, producers and other market participants.
