Mobilization in Ukraine seriously affected the transport and logistics sphere, causing a shortage of drivers, which reached 25% of the total needs. In the field of passenger transport, the situation is even more critical - there is a shortage of drivers up to 30%. These data were announced by Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Serhiy Derkach, who shared the information with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
According to Derkach, the noted deficit of 25% is a preliminary estimate received from carriers and logistics companies. At the same time, in some enterprises this figure exceeds 50%, which is due to active mobilization. "This means that Ukraine lacks about 30,000 truck drivers," he said during the presentation of a pilot project aimed at training female truck drivers.
In the field of public transport, the shortage of drivers is also felt: approximately 30% of the total need is not met. This is about 6,000 of the 14,000 required specialists in the industry. This situation complicates the operation of public passenger transport, which can negatively affect public service.
Derkach emphasized that the issue of the lack of drivers is urgent and needs an urgent solution. The training of women truck drivers is one of the initiatives designed to fill the personnel vacuum created by the mobilization.
In addition, he noted that it is important to intensify the training of new specialists in the field of transport in order to avoid similar situations in the future. Measures aimed at improving qualifications and training new personnel can become the key to stability in the transport and logistics sector.
In connection with these challenges, it is also necessary to consider ways of attracting new personnel, including through training and support programs for young people, in order to ensure the effective functioning of the industry in the conditions of military mobilization.
