The private sector is involved in land demining: the government is speeding up the process

The Ukrainian government has launched a large-scale campaign to clear the lands affected by Russian aggression, involving private companies specializing in mine action in the process. This step is designed to speed up demining and ensure safety in regions where agricultural work is being carried out and infrastructure facilities are being restored.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal spoke about the new measures, emphasizing the importance of attracting additional resources for demining. According to him, the scope of the tasks is so great that the state instruments need substantial support from the private sector. Private companies will help increase the number of specialists and apply advanced technologies for cleaning the territories.

Among the innovative solutions used during demining are drones, robotic systems and specialized equipment, in particular from Ukrainian manufacturers. Shmyhal emphasized that within the framework of the "Made in Ukraine" program, the state actively supports the development of domestic technologies necessary for demining and plans to open new training centers for the training of sappers.

The government pays special attention to the demining of agricultural lands. Farmers working in the de-occupied territories will have the opportunity to receive compensation for the costs of humanitarian demining. The state budget has allocated 3 billion hryvnias for this initiative, which will help ensure the safe recovery of the agricultural sector in the regions affected by the war.

According to Shmygal, as of the current year, sappers have cleared more than 200,000 hectares of fertile land, which has enabled farmers to return to their farms and resume agricultural work. Kherson, Kharkiv, and Mykolaiv regions are the main regions where active demining work is currently underway.

These government actions aim to ensure a quick and safe return to life in the liberated regions, while at the same time contributing to the development of the national economy through the resumption of agricultural production in safe areas.
