State support for immigrants in 2025: no increase is expected

There are no plans to increase state support for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in 2025, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said during question time to the government in the Verkhovna Rada. According to the information provided by Shmyhal, the Ministry of Finance does not yet foresee an increase in payments in the new budget year.

According to the Prime Minister, the current level of support for IDPs is sufficient to meet the needs of displaced persons. Currently, as Shmyhal noted, 1.2 million internally displaced persons receive state assistance. This shows a significant level of effort aimed at supporting citizens who were forced to leave their homes due to the war.

Despite the lack of plans to increase financial support, the government continues to look for ways to improve conditions for IDPs. One of these steps will be the implementation of a pilot project that provides subsidies for housing rent. The project is planned to be implemented in nine front-line regions, where displaced persons face particularly difficult living conditions.

This project will allow internally displaced persons to partially cover the costs of housing rent, which should significantly ease the financial burden on the most vulnerable categories of the population. According to the government, such an initiative will contribute to the improvement of living conditions for displaced persons, which is especially important in the regions closest to the war zone.

Despite the lack of an increase in direct cash payments in 2025, the state continues to work on the development of new mechanisms to support IDPs. An important element of this process is coordination with local authorities and international partners to ensure sustainable and effective support for war-affected citizens.

Thus, the government of Ukraine, despite the difficult economic conditions, does not stop supporting the displaced and is looking for new tools that will help improve their quality of life in 2025 and beyond.
