Kharkiv received important assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the form of a complete set of specialized equipment for processing waste resulting from the destruction of buildings. This will help the city cope more effectively with the consequences of shelling, which has been ongoing since 2022.

This was reported by the Kharkiv City Council. According to information, the city received two powerful shredders for processing concrete, a special sieve for sorting crushed materials, as well as equipment for loading, disassembling and sorting damaged structures. This equipment will significantly speed up the process of disposal of construction waste.

It is planned that the new equipment will start to be used in September. It will become a key tool for the Municipal Waste Management Company, which is responsible for cleaning up the city from the consequences of the destruction.

Thanks to this technique, the enterprise will be able to significantly reduce the amount of accumulated waste left after the attacks on the city. In particular, to date, almost 16,000 tons of waste have been prepared for processing and are awaiting processing.

The Kharkiv City Council noted that this assistance from Japan is of great importance for the restoration of the city. It will allow not only to reduce the environmental load, but also to restore the affected areas, using recycled materials for new construction projects.

This initiative is part of a broader cooperation between Ukraine and Japan aimed at supporting war-torn regions and ensuring sustainable infrastructure reconstruction.
