The Chernihiv Regional Military Administration and the French agency "Expertise France" signed a cooperation agreement aimed at restoring three medical institutions in the Chernihiv Region. This project is aimed at improving the population's access to medical services against the background of the ongoing conflict.
According to the agreement, France will undertake to restore the Chernihiv Regional Children's Hospital, the Chernihiv Regional Psychoneurological Hospital and the Ichnian City Hospital. This will be an important step in the reconstruction of the medical infrastructure, which has suffered serious damage as a result of the war.
The renovation projects include significant changes at each of the hospitals. Chernihiv Regional Children's Hospital will receive a new basement shelter, which will be equipped with ventilators and other necessary medical devices. This will ensure the safety of patients in case of further attacks.
The Chernihiv Regional Psychoneurological Hospital will receive a renovated basement and a modernized medical well to improve water supply. This will improve conditions for patients and medical staff, as well as ensure stable operation of the hospital.
The Ichnian city hospital will be completely renovated, in particular the surgical block of the two-story hospital. This renovation will improve the quality of medical services and ensure better patient care.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Chernihiv Oblast has been subject to regular shelling and bombing, which has seriously damaged the medical infrastructure. Russian attacks destroyed 68 medical facilities and completely destroyed 8 of them. To date, 38 medical institutions have been restored in the region, and another 19 have been partially restored.
Serhii Dubrov, First Deputy Minister of Health, emphasized the importance of international support, particularly from France. He noted that such partners help Ukraine effectively cope with the challenges of war and develop the medical system. "Restoration of hospitals in Chernihiv region is only one aspect of international support," Dubrov emphasized.
