Cancellation of the tender for the reconstruction of Okhmatdyt: what next?

Ukrainian society recently worriedly discussed the tender for the restoration of the "Okhmatdyt" children's hospital, which caused a significant response due to the high cost proposals and related doubts about transparency. That is why the authorities decided to cancel this competition and hold a new one according to the rules of the Prozorro electronic system.

At the beginning of July, the "Okhmatdyt" Charitable Foundation announced a tender for the repair and interior equipment of the "Okhmatdyt" National Children's Specialized Hospital. Proposals from the participants of the competition differed significantly in terms of price indicators: from 42 to 307 million hryvnias, excluding VAT.

However, among the large number of applicants, the highest price was offered by the company "Bud-Technology", with the cost of the works being 307 million hryvnias. This decision caused a significant public outcry and criticism, as other bidders offered significantly lower amounts for the work.

In response to public outrage and doubts about the transparency of the selection of the winner, the head of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko announced that the tender will be canceled and a new process will be conducted in the Prozorro electronic system. This should ensure maximum transparency and competition between participants.

In addition, the Ministry announced plans to transfer funds from the "Okhmatdit" charitable fund directly to the hospital's treasury account, which emphasizes the importance of effective use of money allocated for medical needs.

It is noted that the State Enterprise "Medical Procurement" will be involved in the new tender selection, which must ensure compliance with all public procurement procedures and standards. This step is aimed at avoiding similar situations in the future and strengthening confidence in the public procurement system in Ukraine.

Currently, the benefactors are preparing a detailed report on the competitive selection and detailed information on all tender participants. This initiative should contribute to greater openness and understanding of the processes taking place in the field of public procurement in Ukraine.

In conclusion, the cancellation and rescheduling of the tender for the restoration of Okhmatdyt is an important step in the direction of improving the transparency and efficiency of the use of public funds in the medical sector of Ukraine.
