The long-awaited possibility to share passwords with loved ones has finally appeared in the Google Password Manager service. Google has confirmed that the feature will launch as part of the Google Play app update in May 2024.

This was reported by Android Authority. The update allows users to securely share saved passwords with family members in Google Password Manager. Once shared, other users will have a copy of your password in their password manager, ready to use.

"You can securely share your passwords with your family group in Google Password Manager. When you share a password, your family members will receive a copy of it in their password manager," explained Google representatives.

The company gave several examples where the new password sharing feature could be particularly useful. This includes sharing daycare accounts, homework, streaming services, insurance accounts, VPNs, and other important services.

At this time, the ability to share passwords is only available in Google mobile apps for Android after updating Google Play Services to version 24.20. However, the feature has not yet appeared in the stable version of the Chrome browser for computers.

In addition, since June 10, Google is increasing the minimum operating system requirements for using the Google Wallet application on Android and Wear OS devices. Google Wallet will now require Android 9 or later on smartphones, and Wear OS 2.x or later on smartwatches.

These innovations from Google aim to improve the convenience and security of using the company's services, while ensuring relevance and compliance with modern security standards.
