At a conference on economic development and recovery in Tokyo, the Japanese government delegation announced a significant amount of money to support Japanese investors in Ukraine. This initiative includes €1.25 billion to support export projects and the creation of the Japan Export Credit Agency (NEXI) program, which will provide guarantees for investors and a credit line for exporting goods.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced this, emphasizing that in the first two months of 2024, Japan became the largest donor of budgetary aid to Ukraine.

In addition to financial support, the parties discussed further trade liberalization between Ukraine and Japan, as well as updating the investment protection agreement.

During his meeting with Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki, Shmyhal thanked him for his promise to provide Ukraine with $4.5 billion in financial assistance this year.

The signing of the convention on the avoidance of double taxation is another important step that will simplify business between the two countries.

Ukraine's Finance Minister Sergiy Marchenko emphasized that in the first quarter Ukraine will receive an additional USD 1.8 billion from Japan, which will help secure external financing in the amount of USD 37.3 billion.

This event is another step towards strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and Japan, and provides the necessary support for Ukraine's economic recovery.

As the largest donor of aid, Japan continues to actively support Ukraine in an important period for it, contributing to the implementation of reforms and economic development.
