Ukraine is preparing to open a civilian airport before the end of the war, Presidential Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak said during a speech at the Hudson Institute during his visit to the United States.

Yermak did not disclose specific details about the airport or the timeframe for its opening, but indicated that this initiative is likely to be introduced before the end of the war.

According to Ukrayinska Pravda's sources, the city in question is one of the cities in western Ukraine where an airport is being prepared for opening in the near future.

In his speech, Yermak also noted the need to strengthen Ukraine's air defense equipment.

"Ukraine needs a reliable umbrella. We are already working on this with our partners," he said, emphasizing that this indicates that a turning point in the war is approaching. He identified the next year as a crucial one in this context.
