Ukraine has received a limited number of ATACMS missiles from the United States, as well as a clearly defined list of targets that can be used. This became known after numerous stories about the receipt of these missiles by a country at war with Russia.

According to The New York Times, about 20 ATACMS missiles were delivered to Ukraine in secret to avoid possible Russian attacks on them. Despite the limited number, U.S. officials believe that this will be sufficient.

According to U.S. officials, Ukraine has the ability to use these missiles to attack key Russian bases located in the occupied territories and used to support Russian troops. However, there is an important condition: ATACMS cannot be used for attacks on Russian territory.

The type of ATACMS missile provided to Ukraine has a limited range (up to 165 km) and is a cluster munition that disperses 950 small bombs. This characteristic allows for damage over a large area and makes it an effective tool for fighting the Russian occupation forces.

Ukraine has expressed a desire to use ATACMS missiles for immediate and unexpected destruction of Russian military targets, and this delivery was an important step in supporting a country fighting for its independence. Nevertheless, the limited and objective restrictions on the use of these missiles impose on Ukraine the responsibility for their rational and deliberate use in the context of military operations.

U.S. officials emphasize the importance of complying with the terms of delivery and preventing the use of these missiles outside of the designated facilities. This decision is aimed at ensuring maximum security and avoiding excessive escalation of the conflict.

The ATACMS missiles provided to Ukraine become one of the strongest defense weapons systems that will help deter Russian aggression in the occupied territories and protect Ukraine's independence.
