Ukraine has adopted a strategy to reduce the gender pay gap by 2030, with the goal of reducing the gap between men's and women's pay from 18.6% to 13.6%. This initiative was developed by the Cabinet of Ministers and approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.

The press service of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine reports that the strategy was developed and presented in May of this year, and the operational action plan for 2023-2025 was approved by the Government on September 15. The implementation of this strategy envisages achieving three key goals: improving legislation on equal pay, combating stereotypes and gender discrimination in professional choices, and creating favorable conditions for combining family and professional responsibilities.

According to Yulia Svyrydenko, Minister of Economy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy has already started implementing this strategy and has achieved the first results. These results include the preparation of a draft Labor Code, the launch of an all-Ukrainian communication campaign with partners, and an application to join the OECD Council's recommendations on gender equality in education, employment, and entrepreneurship.

"Equality of opportunities is a guarantee of harmonious development of the state and society. The National Strategy for Overcoming the Gender Pay Gap is just one of the tools for our society's transition to new standards," the Minister of Economy emphasized.

This initiative puts Ukraine on a par with developed countries, which have also committed to reducing the gender pay gap over the next seven years. In this difficult period in Ukraine's history, when the country is facing war, the initiative of targeted development and gender equality is becoming an important part of social progress.
